Your wellness team members can and should serve as faces for your wellness program. You can increase the visibility of your team, and therefore for your wellness program as a whole, by featuring team members:
- On your Website
- On posters
- In emails
- In newsletters
- In videos
In all of these outlets, team members can share their stories of what wellness means to them and why it is important in their lives.
- Feature a team member a month and their personal wellness story. Invite employees to share their wellness stories, too, and highlight those.
- If members have specific areas of expertise – such as gardening, cooking, walking, biking, running, etc. – ask them to share tips on a regular basis for your communications. Be sure to include contact information for team members so fellow employees can reach out to them.
By seeing and knowing more about team members, employees may be more likely to live healthier, particularly if the team members share their positive health stories. People like to learn how others just like them have overcome obstacles and reached their goals. Reading and hearing success stories can provide that “If they can do it, so can I” nudge for others to take action.
What’s more, when other employees know who to turn to for answers to questions about the company’s wellness program (or an area of interest – cooking, gardening, walking, biking, running, etc.) they may be more likely to seek out information, which removes one more barrier of engagement.
By sharing personal stories of your team members & employees, and featuring their areas of expertise, you are creating a sense of community and a “we are all in this together” attitude that is essential to building a thriving work culture.
