You would think if there were a simple way to get everyone moving, everyone would be moving more. Not that easy, huh? I’ve spent years telling people all we have to do is walk. Walk and talk. Walk and enjoy friends. Walk in beautiful natural settings. Don’t even sweat it, just go out and enjoy the outdoors.
Nope. Nothing doing! Simplicity, convenience, ease of action, low cost, social bonding, and the high that comes with it all, still doesn’t sell the act of walking to enough people. We remain sedentary as a nation. Failure. Despair. But wait…
Finally, the New York Times may have stumbled upon walking’s blinding flash of the obvious. What if someone told you your dog needed more exercise? Suddenly a cause greater than yourself presents itself. A reason to live, to make a difference, to leave your mark in the world – you have to get your dog walking!
Take a look at the NYT article Exercising a Fat Dog (and Yourself). And then think of how much that four-legged, best friend of yours really, really needs a walk once-a-day. Just look at that face. All they want is to go for a walk with you. How could you resist?
